  18. The TCP Large Windows Working Group is chartered to produce a
  19. specification for the use of TCP on high delay, high bandwidth paths.
  20. To this end, this Working Group recommended RFC 1072 ``TCP extensions
  21. for long-delay paths'' and RFC 1185 ``TCP Extension for High-Speed
  22. Paths'' be published jointly as a Proposed Standard.  Deficiencies in
  23. the technical details of the documents were identified by the
  24. End-to-End Research Group of the IRTF.  Rather than progress the
  25. standard with known deficiencies, the IESG tasked the End-to-End
  26. Research Group to fix and merge these two documents into a single
  27. protocol specification document. This review was done on the 
  28. eze-interest@isi.edu mailing list.

  30. The TCP Large Windows Working Group is being resurrected for a one
  31. time meeting, to review and if appropriate, approve this new document.
